Focus and Scope

These days it seems that almost everyone in the development community is talking about “pro-poor growth.” What exactly is it, and how can we measure it?  Is ordinary economic growth always “pro-poor growth” or is that some special kind of growth?  And if it is something special, what makes it happen? This journal reviews and publishes those papers which have new insights on the pro-poor growth in terms of empirical, theoretical and policy implications. The journal intend to see the prolific nature of research papers i.e., what factors make it more pro-poor (including the role played by both initial inequality and changing inequality), and whether the things that make the distribution of the gains from growth more pro-poor come at a cost to the rate of growth. Some priorities for future research should be identified in the selected papers.

About Journal

The Journal of Pro-Poor Growth: An International Perspective is a multidisciplinary referred publication dedicated to exploring contemporary forms of poverty i.e., Spiritual Poverty, Intellectual Poverty, Poverty of Affection, Poverty of the Will, Physical Poverty, Poverty of Support Network, Poverty of Civic Involvement and Economic Poverty, within a global and societal context. The journal examines FGT measures of poverty i.e., headcount ratio, poverty gap and severity of poverty from the standpoints of numerous disciplines in the social sciences, humanities, interdisciplinary fields, and professions such as educational inequalities, safety nets, pro-poor health and law. The journal provides critical and scholarly perspectives regarding the structural causes of poverty i.e.,  Poverty as a personal failing, Poverty as a structural failing, Poverty as cultural characteristics,  Poverty as a label and Poverty as restriction of opportunities, as well as the relationship between poverty and inequality, poverty and growth, growth-inequality-poverty triangle etc. to dominant economic, political, cultural and social institutions. The journal also examines moral and ethical issues related to poverty, for instance, human rights, social justice, governance and democracy. The journal offers a forum for research that examines the empirical or either lived experiences of poverty and inequality in the context of pro-poor growth by communities and their social and political struggles to secure rights and freedoms. The journal examines poverty and inequality as it relates to topics such as; Pro-poor, Growth Migration, Urbanization, Globalization, Population, Displacement, Development, Health Hunger, Social Welfare Policy, Education, Human Rights, Criminal Justice, Ecological and Environmental Destruction, Race, Ethnicity, Gender, Sexuality, Class and Governance.
